    Bonjour,

    Bonne chance
    Francine (Lévesque)

  3. I’m interested in knowing more about upcoming conferences and workshops.
I have my BA in Creative Arts in Therapy (visual arts) in the US. Currently I’m working towards my MS in Art Therapy. I work as an expressive art therapist in an adolescent residential treatment center. I also facilitate a group at a homeless shelter. I want to expand on contracting out work for myself and possibly others in the field. Does anyone have information about this? Also, more web connections in this venue?

  4. Kathy, connect to us through the egroup I have set up. See the sidebar for a link to our site and how to become a member.

  5. I am currently working on my MS in Art Therapy. I work with adults with chronic mental illness in a day treatment program in the Bronx, NY. I am going to move to Charleston SC, and was wondering how to find opportunties to continue working in the field

  6. Hello Jennie, your best bet is to connect with the NC or SC chapter of the AATA. Second you may want to subscribe to the online group I manage and post your request there. (Follow the instructions in the side bar). There are others out there too. Good luck

  7. I am so excited to find your site! I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Montana who serves in a School Based Program. I use art and play heavily in my work with traumatized and seriously emotionally abused adolescents. I am interested in joining your e group, and find additional training, possibly my doctorate. Bravo for a web site well done that moves my spirit!

  8. Thank you Elizabeth and good luck in your further training.

  9. Good day,
So currently I’m a graphic designer with a BFA in graphic design but over the past year I have become more interested in Art Therapy. I enjoy working with kids and helping others so to change career paths has been an idea I’ve been kicking around.
I was wondering if there where any programs you highly recommended. I would like to get out of the states for training, not only to get an over all global view on things but to just travel. If you have any advice I would be greatful.

    Thanks

  10. I recommend Southwestern College in Santa Fe, NM. It’s not out of the country, but different enough that it just might fit the bill for more adventure. They offer a master’s program in Art Therapy. I went to school there about 14 years ago. http://www.swc.edu for more information.

  24. I am an Art therapy major at Alverno College. Alverno College is a four-year, liberal arts, independent, Catholic college for women, located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Alverno is heralded as an innovative leader in pedagogy, and has received international acclaim as a pioneer in developing a measurable, outcome-focused curriculum in which the individual student can grow as a learner. Alverno College’s unique emphasis on learning the abilities needed to put knowledge to use – commonly called “ability-based education” – has gained national praise.

Alverno doesn’t use standardized tests and traditional exams. Each student is unique, each learns in unique ways. But life is competitive, and so are we. Rather than measure performance as a snapshot in time, against a curve that strips away individual achievement, we focus on measurement that’s about you, and only you. The lessons you learn are applicable in real life, they become part of who you are. Alverno students learn more in class and retain the lessons longer. Our eight cornerstone concepts represent the very building blocks needed to create an effective and relevant learning experience.
So for those of you who were wondering worldwide about art therapy programs, Alverno is, in my opinion, the best there is. It is EXTREMELY hard, but there is no way you will leave a class not remembering what you have learned. I am doing a “Globally Effective Citizen” paper that has to encorperate my major, the environment, global issues with the topic as well as political governmental and non governmental organizations. If anyone has an idea for a less broad topic than environmental art therapy i will take all the ideas I can get. Thanks!
